This month we are trying to take it easy and maybe help the rest of the world chill out a bit. The highlights this month are a couple of fascinating instrumental tracks

The first “The People’s Delicatessen” by Igor Krutogolov’s Toy Orchestra, originally featured in the soundtrack for Roee Rosen’s enchanting project Kafka for Kids. Posing as the backing track for a deli commercial, the lustful and kinetic nature of the music, while strange and exotic, is almost nostalgic in a way. The second “Scabs In Pyosis” by the experimental project Blenorrhagical Spermatocystitis will go by before you finish reading this sentence. While Ivan Loi is mostly dedicated to the art of noise and was even dubbed by some as an “anti-musician”, this charming guitar composition can be interpreted as the unwinding he must need after putting so much energy into these anxiety inducing creations.

Reminiscent of the experiments of the great Yann Tomita, these two instrumental tracks function as interludes both within their respective contexts and in our playlist. Another interesting reference for these instrumentals is the odd and unpredictable tunes that Casey James Basichis & Tim Kiefer wrote for Adventure Time (surely to be featured in a future playlist).
